Licensing, NMLS identifiers and where to verify them
Two identifiers, twenty-two states, and a public database that will confirm both without taking anyone's word for it.
The two identifiers
These are the numbers to search on. An NMLS identifier is permanent and follows the individual or the company, which is what makes it a better thing to verify than a name.

How do I verify Bryan's mortgage license?
Search NMLS Consumer Access, the free public database maintained by the state regulators through the Nationwide Multistate Licensing System, for the individual identifier 228509 or the company identifier 167729. Verifying an originator there before you send anyone your financial documents is a reasonable thing to do with any lender.
Which states can Bryan lend in?
Residential Mortgage, LLC is authorized to close loans in AK, AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, ID, KY, MO, MT, NM, NV, NC, OH, OR, SD, TN, TX, UT, WA, WI and WY. That is 22 states, and it is the list published by the company. If your property sits outside it, Bryan will say so rather than take the application.
